Concerning Great Works:
As Jesus and the disciples were going to the officials' home, a woman who had had a hermorrhage for twelve years came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, "If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed."
-Matthew 9:19-21
"The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father."
-John 14:12-14
As a result of the apostles' work, sick people were brought out into the streets on beds and mats so that Peter's shadow might fall across some of them as he went by.
-Acts 5:15
-Acts 5:15
Peter came to inspire even greater faith in Christ's healing power than did Christ, Himself, when he walked the Earth. One woman believed Jesus so great that a touch fo hsi robe would heal. Multiple people, however, believed even beholding Peter's shadow would bring about healing. It is truly fascinating that God has made it His desire to minsiter to His people through ministered people, instead of doing everything directly, in Person. It must be remembered that God has the energy, motivation, and overall ability and (it would certainly seem) desire to come down to Earth, Himself, in flesh, for all of us to recieve our personal Christ. It must be considered then, that it is not an issue of God being bothered and overwhelmed with work and relationships, but an issue of Him bestowing great honor, responsibility, and (mostly) joy upon the saved sinners that are His Kingdom builders. This reality must be understood with the utmost humility, so to avoid ruining it all with self-conceit.
Concerning Teaching:
A teacher should consider himself a friend to his younger students first, and a teacher second. As eternity marches on, we (hopefully) remain friends, but age & experience-won authority is probably pretty short-lived.
Concerning Myself:
Oh, how wonderful is this life which unfolds before me! It appears as if the LORD is leading me into full-time youth ministry, and I may start as soon as two weeks! This leaves me extremely excited and nervous... but I am ready to go or to wait, whichever is appropriate. May I truly discern what is approrpriate to do.
God bless the Reader! May the peace of Christ belong to him or her!
Loved,
Jake
